AEP Ohio’s Power Rewards: Smart Thermostat program

Making smart choices with energy can help lower your bill. Now, AEP Ohio is giving you new ways to earn rewards while saving energy. With their Power Rewards: Smart Thermostat program, you can get rewards for using less electricity when demand is high. All you need is a smart thermostat and to sign up for the program. If you don’t own one, you can buy a smart thermostat through their marketplace and get instant savings. How the Power Rewards: Smart Thermostat program works

On days when electricity use is very high, AEP Ohio may start an energy savings event. Right before the event, your home may be cooled a little extra in summer or warmed a little extra in winter. This helps keep your home comfortable.

During the event, your smart thermostat will automatically adjust your temperature by no more than 3 degrees. Your home won’t suddenly feel hotter or colder—you may not even notice the change.

When the event ends, your thermostat goes back to your normal settings.
