Christi Water Proposes a Rate Increase for Noble Township Consumers in Defiance County
Christi Water Systems has filed to increase rates for water service to its nearly 200 consumers residing in the Christi Meadows Subdivision, River Chase Properties, and Webco Properties in Defiance County’s Noble Township.
Christi is requesting an increase to the monthly fixed charge for any usage between 0-50 cubic feet. Currently that monthly fixed charge is $34.81; Christi asked to increase that charge to $45.43, a 30.51% increase. Christi is also requesting to increase the water usage rate from $0.13 to $0.15 per cubic foot, about a 9.5% increase. A typical household using 600 cubic feet of water a month would see its bill increase from $107.72 to $125.26.
At a time when inflation and interest rates are already driving up costs for essentials like rent, groceries, gasoline, and energy bills, a rate increase could hit households hard.
